Germany Preparing New Aid Package To Ukraine For Three Billion Euros

It is known what will be included in it.

Germany has formed a package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 3 billion euros. At present, the rapid financing of this package is being discussed.

This was announced by Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. He added that his country has approved 4 billion euros of aid for this year's budget as a whole.

‘If we have announced something and allocated money for it, it will be fulfilled. In addition, we have collected a package worth about €3bn,’ the minister said.

He explained that the rapid funding of the €3bn package is now the subject of negotiations between the CDU/CSU and the SPD.

‘And I am, of course, strongly in favour of finding a quick solution to provide Ukraine with the necessary additional aid,’ Pistorius said.

He noted that Ukraine has already received 3 Patriot ATGMs and 6 IRiS-T SLM and SLS surface-to-air missile systems. Three more IRIS-T, SLS and three IRIS-T SLM systems will be delivered this year.

‘If we manage to find the money for the $3 billion package, we are planning further air defence systems, including the relevant missiles that we have and have already delivered, and this is becoming increasingly important, especially given the freezing of deliveries by the Americans,’ Pistorius .

In addition, Pistorius said that in terms of artillery, Germany has already been able to equip about two battalions. And there will also be an opportunity here to increase the number if the €3bn package is financed.

‘This will allow us to supply additional artillery systems such as the Panzerhaubitze 2000 or the modern fully automated howitzer RCH 155, this refers to the ammunition of the 155 calibre, of which we delivered 34,000,000 units to Ukraine last year alone,’ Pistorius said.
